Premier League Champions Manchester United have sacked their manager David Moyes. Moyes has had a miserable season to forget losing 11, drawing 6, and winning only 17, leaving the club sitting on 7th with 3 games to go.
The question though is why the board waited for so long to fire him. It became clear months ago that Moyes was not up to the challenge and leaving his dismissal to within 3games to the end of the season is at best surprising. They could have let him just finish the season and then bring someone in soon after.
Nevertheless, the writing was already on the wall. Moyes’s performance has made it impossible for anyone to criticize his sacking.
With the club well and truly out of next year’s champions league for the first time in 22 years, they run the risk of failing to qualify for Europe altogether if they fail to finish 7th. And that is a very real possibility.
